Variable Transformer A variable transformer, which is known by several trade name such as variac, Dimmerstat etc., is also an auto transformer, but it has a continuously variable tap so that any output voltage desired could be obtained. It is a very useful piece of equipment in any laboratory or test room. Variacs are available for 230 V single phase in various size. However, it is built by mounting three single phase units one above the other and coupling their spindles to a common control wheel. Variacs are rated by their current capacity which is independent of the output voltage. Specification: Product Ranges: 6 Amps to 1500 Amps Voltage Class: 230V- Single Phase, 415V-Three Phase Cooling : Oil Cooled/Air Cooled Type: Continuous variable Frequency: 50/60 HZ DYn 11 Vector Group: D: The winding primary is connected in Delta Y: The winding secondary is connected in Star n: Neutral brought out in 11 'O' Clock 11: Position is called n (120 Deg. phase angle)
